Andre Marin contracted an infection and had been scheduled for lungs transparent. He eventually undertook the lungs transplant. However, according to his friend, David Faitelson, Andre Marin may have died due to complications resulting from the lungs transplant. In his words,
“Andre Marin fought until the end against an infection that had been getting worse day-by-day since the days of the pandemic. He was then released, and they gave him a lung transplant, in the end he kept fighting for his life, but he ended up defeated… His son André was crying inconsolably this morning.”
Since 2020, Andre Marin had had series of health issues particularly when he contracted a bacteria medically called, Clostridium Difficile. This infection is am infection that happens at the a colon and that usually appears after the use of antibiotics. Then, more complications arising from Andre Marin’s intestine followed.
According to a report given by Andre Marin to his former employer, Fox Sport, he said:
“First, the Clostridium Difficile infection thing happened like four years ago and 2022 was the worst year of my life. In January, my stomach became something else so, I had to go to intensive care. Infact, I came out very underweight, I was in pain and had issues with my back. In March, I had surgery and it was operated on badly, doctors, treatments and check-ups”.
In 2022, Andre Marin health problems appeared to have worsened. He was carried to the Intensive Care Unit and while he was admitted into the hospital, it was discovered that he had three pneumonias. He became unconscious and remained in the Intensive Care Unit for over a month.
According to Andre Marin who recounted the experience said that it was a “miracle that he was still alive. He said: “I remembered that I was admitted to the hospital for three days and ended up spending 45 days. It was predicted that I may not leave the hospital alive.”
In 2023, Andre Marin returned back to TV. In June 18, he had his last broadcast, he had a relapse of “very aggressive bacteria”. According to the reports that emerged, the bacteria was the same one that he had been affected with in the past. The bacteria had practically destroyed the lungs again.
Andre Marin experienced loss of blood in his body as a result of the health conditions and died on the 16th of September 2024.
